This is the first course in a two-part Nurse Management and Executive Leadership (NMEL) capstone sequence. Students employ skills and knowledge gained throughout the MSN program to complete an assessment of a practicum site and develop a plan for a process improvement project. The underlying
framework of the course is transformational leadership, continuous quality improvement (CQI), and implementation science. This course is structured to support student learners in organizational and systems leadership, quality and safety, and to develop leadership principles and practices that will be applied in the
Capstone II course. This course and practicum experience will require the student to engage in the clinical environment for 250 hours, in addition to coursework completion, over a 15-week semester.
